Every week is a new adventure! With captivating and varied activities, each week of the summer is unique. A camper could sign up for a whole summer of adventures or just a single week.
SUMMER CAMPS AT A GLANCE
Eno River Camp, for 7-12 year olds: Each week-long camp includes field games, forest or river exploration, outdoor wilderness skills, fire-building techniques, dramatic games, nature art, shelter-building, and campfire cooking. The program features hands-on activities, personal attention, and a schedule which is flexible to fit the interests of the group. The size and structure of the adventures are designed to enhance safety, participation, and creativity.
Appalachian Journey, for 7-14 year olds. This week-long sleep-away camp is an introduction to outdoor adventures in Western North Carolina. We will take a shuttle from Durham to the Falling Waters Resort near Bryson City, NC where we will be sleeping in bunks. This camp will feature nature hikes/study, river exploration, fire building, fire cooking, white water rafting, tubing in Deep Creek, zip-line courses, Alpine tower (climbing wall challenges), trout fishing, nature art, and field games. Each camper will approach the activities at his/her own skill level and comfort zone.
The Ultimate Strider Adventure, for 10-15 year olds: We will offer a 5-day trip for 10-12 year olds, a 6-day experience for 12-14 year olds and an 7-day adventure for 14-15 year olds. Activities are designed to be age-appropriate and will accommodate campers at any level of backpacking experience. The camp will begin with backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. We will be learning backpacking skills, orienteering, camp cooking, knots, nine levels of fire-making, Native American tools, wilderness shelters, and general naturalist studies. After completing the backpacking portion of the journey, we will move on to the Nantahala or the Wildwater river centers for white water rafting, deep creek tubing, trout fishing, zip-line and high ropes courses…and find some very special swimming holes!
